This is a brief overview of the 2011 Phoenicia International Festival of the Voice's main event
the Opera "Don Giovanni" held in Phoenicia, NY August 2011. The opera featured Louis Otey,
Kerry Henderson, Barry Banks, Michelle Jennings, Maria Todaro, Toby Newman,
Masetto Mathew Curran and music Director Steven White.
The Festival included 4 days of honoring the voice with the Opera Don Giovanni; lectures,
Choral Chamber Singers; Kids' Programs; World Music; Jazz; Cabaret, Gospel; Concerts with:
Justin Kolb, Mikail Horowitz, Carey Harrison, Babette Hierholzer, Sylvia Bucelli,
Lauren Flanigan, Lily Arbisser and Lawrence Craig

Altamura Center for Arts and Cultures was founded in 1970 by Leonard and Carmela.
Altamura, provides ethnic, social, professional and cultural relations in the world through
the arts for the purpose of promoting understanding among world peoples through the study of music.

The Mount, in Lenox, MA. was the home of Edith Wharton who designed the house and the
gardens outlined in her influential book, The Decoration of Houses (1897) and lived there for
many years until relocating to France where she lived till her death in 1937. Edith Wharton
wrote over 40 books and was the first woman awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, the first
woman to receive an honorary doctorate from Yale and the first woman elevated to full
membership in the American Academy of Arts and Letters.
The National Academy Museum re-opens in the Fall of 2011 after year-long rennovations.

Individuals and members of Women's Organizations in the Hudson Valley who walked
across The Walkway, Poughkeepsie, NY on March. 8th, 2011. We joined Women from
25 different nations who also walked across thousands of bridges for the 100th Anniversary
of International Women's Day, a day to celebrate women around the world, and an
opportunity to educate people about the plight of women.
Harriet Tannin Retrospective at the Woodstock Artists Association Museum,
Woodstock, NY Feb 12— Apr 3, 2011. Harriet was a painter, photographer and collage artist.
She was particularly known for her photographs of notable Woodstock Artists and
her concern with the lack of attention Women artists were receiving in galleries and the media.
