Wethersfield Academy for the Arts. The Winter Schedule at the Wethersfield Academy for the Arts is now online at: www.wethersfieldarts.org. In January, treat yourself to an art class whether drawing, painting, or watercolor for adults and young people. The Atelier Portrait and Figure teaches classical methods of approaching the canvas while Studio Arts allows all levels of interested students to improve at their own pace. The 2012 Workshops are: Gaining Control of Watercolor with Jeremiah Patterson in February, Portrait Workshop with Sandra Wakeen in March, and Still Life in Egg Tempra with Koo Schadler. The Craft of Painting Workshop at the Beacon, New York studio of painter Kathy Moss. Learn professional preparation of supports: stretching canvas, glue size, acrylic, chalk-and-oil and other gessoes, and oil grounds. Wood panel preparation will also be covered. Introduction to Still Life Drawing and Pastel Wednesday evenings 6 - 9 pm The class will cover the fundamentals of drawing, composition, color theory, underpainting and measuring. The student will learn to identify value and correlate the correct colors. Subjects covered will be drawing, light and shadow, identifying 'shadow patterns', and basic perspective.
